Huis Schuylenburch, The Hague
The Hoogsteder Museum Foundation organised the exhibition One European Family for the German Embassy in The Hague.
With paintings from a private collection, the exhibition illustrated the story of the family of Frederick V and Elizabeth Stuart, King and Queen of Bohemia. They were the first king and queen ever to live in The Hague (from 1621 to 1661).
The life of Frederick and Elizabeth and that of their 13 children illustrates the close ties that linked the countries of Europe. It was so four centuries ago, and it remains so today. We’re all part of one European family.
One European Family was on show until the end of March 2024, with an open day for the public on 21 March.
